The Lost Hero

He's done Greek, he's done Egyptian, but he's not done yet! Give it up for Rick Riordan's Latest book, The Lost Hero! Coming back to his 1st series, Percy Jackson, Riordan has made an astonishing sequel. He has taken characters such as Annabeth and Percy, and adding more newer characters he's made a brilliant mix of Greek and now Roman myths.

That being said, The Lost Hero is just as amazing (if not more) as its prequel. It brings all the elements that we loved in Percy Jackson, and even MORE action. A good balance of humor, action, mystery, and adventure, this book is one you won't want to miss.

This last part is a brief overview of the book. Skip if you like, because I'm warning you now.

The book starts off on an ordinary school bus. Jason wakes up sitting between a girl and boy who claim to be his best friends, and without any memory of who he is or where he's going. The two, who's names are Piper and Leo soon prove to be fellow demigods, and Jason saves them from 3 Venti, AKA Storm Spirits, with ease. The trio is taken to Camp Half-Blood by Annabeth and Brutus, son of Iris (goddess of the rainbow). Piper and Leo are quickly claimed by Aphrodite and Hephaestus, respectively, and it is realized that Jason was claimed by Zeus long ago. They quickly are sent on their first (known) quest, to free Hera from Mother Earth herself. before they leave however, it is discovered that Thalia is Jason's actual sister (and not just on the godly side). Throughout their journey they work with each other, and their special powers, to combat numerous enemies. These include Midas and a trio of Cyclopes, while managing to rescue their Satyr protector Coach Hedge. Piper soon reveals to Leo and Jason that her father has been kidnapped by a Giant, and Thalia and the hunters hold off Mother Earth until Jason, Leo, Piper, and Coach Hedge can get there. When they arrive however, The King of the Giants rises and Jason confronts him. While he holds off the giant, Leo and Piper free Hera, and the giant flees. Jason and his friends return and it is soon revealed that Percy Jackson, who has been missing for a week is in the Roman Camp Jason came from.

Final Notes: Jason, Piper, and Leo all have special powers. Jason can control winds to "Fly", Piper can get people to do what she wants by "Charmspeaking" them, and Leo has control over fire.
